As some of you may already know my father passed away last Saturday after a pretty brutal 3 week stretch in the hospital following a mistake in his post op treatment from his brain surgery. He was an all around great guy who loved model trains, BBQ, fishing, Christmas, and woodwork. He obviously meant a lot to my family and I, so I’m not going to go into all the gushy stuff here. I’m pretty worn out. It’s been a very long week. 

 Here is a comic I drew about 3 years ago for his 50th birthday. I decided to scan it and post it here, since I’m not near my regularly scheduled web comic files this week. I think it was a pretty good comic, and my dad definitely enjoyed it. I drew my Dad as Fred Flintstone with a handle bar stash because that is exactly what he looked like (He even worked at a concrete plant). He was also a lot larger than me, so I’m not sure while I drew him so small. Wishful thinking I guess. Oh well, here it is: 

 That last joke about the “pork chops and applesauce” was a long running inside joke between my dad and I. This is how it works: (if you want to play at home).  First you need my sister to be at the table (very important) Then you just ask each other what we’re having for dinner until my sister finally flips out. Then that persons says: “Pork chops and applesauce” In a funny voice. I dunno where this came from (other than my love of driving my sister crazy) But it always worked. Actually now that I think about it, I think it might be from the Brady Bunch movie. Anyway, like all inside jokes they aren’t really funny unless your in on ‘em so sorry about that. This comic was never meant to be seen by anyone but him.

Oh, and my dad worked at KFC (we’re from Kentucky) for most of my childhood so that’s colonel Sanders (who he actually met) whipping him on page 4.

 So, go call your dad right now if you still have one around. Seriously. People aren’t nearly as permanent as I had imagined.

Hey Gang. I haven’t done a very good job of keeping up with my blog lately. I’ve had a ton of stuff (some good, mostly bad) going on. So I’m just now getting back into the swing of things and boy do I have a bunch of crap back logged! So I’ll start out here, with my new weekly web comic! I’ll be posting these comics up once a week. Now, I know what you’re going to say, but I’m telling you; I’m going to stick with this (for a while). I’ve already got 5 comics colored and ready to go, plus a bunch more that are at various stages of completion. So keeping updates on a regular schedule shouldn’t be a problem. Hey looky there! Here comes the first one now!

Yep, You heard it here last, Heroes con 2008 happened! And to document this event, the awesome guys over at the Indie Spinner Rack have released a “party line” style group interview with Josh Latta, Duane Balenger, J Chris Campbell, and myself. It’s full of all sorts of comic con nonsense. It came out much better than the “too drunk for the Internet” podcast I did (but later had removed) at Fluke for the guys over at the Dollar Bin.
